Privacy Policy
PetNest is committed to protecting your personal information and handling it in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. This policy explains what we collect, why, how we keep it safe, and the rights you have over it.

Who we are
PetNest (petnest.co.nz) is the consumer brand of Channel EVA Limited, the Auckland company behind the Catwalk® and Dogwalk® pet-door range, trading as Pet-Tek International. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “PetNest” mean Channel EVA Limited.
We are an “agency” for the purposes of the Privacy Act 2020, and we are responsible for the personal information we hold about you.
What we collect
We only collect information we need to sell to you, support you and run our business. Depending on how you use the site, that can include:
- Contact and order details — your name, email address, phone number, delivery and billing address, and the products you order or enquire about. Your phone number is required at checkout so the courier can contact you about your delivery; we also use it if there is a problem with your order. We never use it for marketing.
- Account information — if you create a PetNest account, your login details and, where you add them, saved pet profiles and your order history. You can save up to two pets once you have ordered from us: name, cat or dog, size, the door it uses, and — only if you add them — a birthday or gotcha day, a short description and a microchip number for the lost pet card.
- Warranty records — for every Catwalk® and Dogwalk® door you buy from us, we keep a warranty record (order number, door, purchase date and cover end dates) for the length of the warranty.
- Google or Facebook sign-in — if you choose to sign in with Google or Facebook, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from that service. We never receive your Google or Facebook password, and we do not post anything to your accounts.
- Email preferences — if you tick “Send me PetNest offers, new products and pet tips” at checkout or when you create an account, we keep your name, email address and that choice, plus simple statistics on whether our emails are opened or clicked, so we can send fewer, better emails.
- Reviews — if you review a product you bought from us, we publish your review with the name you choose to show (for example, your first name and initial). Your email address is never shown.
- Payment information — card and payment details are entered directly into our payment provider’s secure system. We do not see or store your full card number.
- Enquiry content — anything you send us by email, contact form or, where available, our on-site chat, including photos you send to help us identify a part.
- Website and device data — information collected automatically through cookies, Google Analytics and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, such as your IP address, device and browser type, the pages and products you view, items you add to your cart, purchases, and the site that referred you.
How we collect it
Most information we collect directly from you — when you place an order, create an account, contact us or browse the site. Where we receive information about you indirectly (for example, from a payment provider, courier or a family member ordering on your behalf), we will take reasonable steps to make sure you are aware of the matters in this policy, in line with the Privacy Act’s notification requirements (IPP 3A, in force from 1 May 2026).
Why we use it
- To process, deliver and support your orders and enquiries.
- To manage your account, saved pets and order history.
- To register your door’s warranty automatically and check warranty claims.
- To email a birthday or gotcha-day treat (a one-off discount code) for your pet, only if you tick the box for it in My pets — untick it at any time.
- To provide warranty service and identify the right spare parts for your door.
- To respond to your questions and improve our products and website.
- To measure how our site is used and, through Google and Meta, to show PetNest ads to people who have visited our site (see Advertising & analytics below).
- To send you order updates, and one short email about a week after your order is delivered asking how it went — each has a link to stop these.
- Only if you have ticked the box for it: offer, new-product and pet-tip emails. Every one has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing is instant.
- To meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or trade your personal information. We share it only with the service providers we need to run PetNest, and only so they can perform their service for us:
- GoDaddy — website hosting, where our site and its database are stored.
- Cloudflare — content delivery, DNS and site security, which processes traffic to our site.
- Google (Search Console) and Microsoft (Bing Webmaster Tools) — to understand how our site is found in search.
- Google (Analytics, including its advertising features) and Meta (Facebook / Instagram Pixel) — to measure visits and purchases and to show relevant PetNest ads.
- Addy (Addy Solutions, New Zealand) — when you type your address at checkout, it is sent to Addy to suggest and check New Zealand addresses.
- Google and Meta (Facebook) — only if you choose to sign in with them, to confirm who you are.
- MailPoet (Automattic) — sends our emails, including order emails and, if you opted in, offer emails.
- Zoho — our business email provider, which holds the emails you send to info@petnest.co.nz.
- Couriers and freight partners, including NZ Post — your name, address and phone number, so they can deliver your order.
- Stripe — processes card, Apple Pay and Google Pay payments. If you choose Afterpay or Klarna, they receive your order and contact details to provide pay-in-4 and may run their own checks under their privacy policies.
- Google — only if you choose to leave a Google review of PetNest or Pet-Tek; that review is published by Google under its own terms.
- Professional advisers and government agencies — where the law requires it.
Several of these providers are based in, or store data in, the United States and other countries, so your information may be held outside New Zealand. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure comparable privacy protections apply, as the Privacy Act requires.
Cookies
Our site uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember your session and account, and understand how the site is used so we can improve it. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; some parts of the site may not work fully if you disable them.
Advertising & analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use our site, including which products are viewed and bought. With Google’s advertising features switched on, Google may use this — together with information from your Google account if you are signed in — to show you PetNest ads on other sites and apps.
We use the Meta Pixel to measure visits and purchases that come from Facebook and Instagram, and to show PetNest ads to people who have visited our site.
Neither Google nor Meta receives your card details, and we do not sell your information. You can opt out at any time:
- Google ads — adssettings.google.com
- Google Analytics — install Google’s opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
- Meta ads — facebook.com/adpreferences
- Or clear or block cookies in your browser settings.
Keeping your information safe
We hold your information on secure systems and restrict access to staff who need it. Our site runs over HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. If a privacy breach occurs that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and affected individuals as the Privacy Act requires.
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or for as long as the law requires (for example, tax records), and then securely dispose of it.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it if it is wrong. To make a request, or to ask any question about your privacy, contact our Privacy Officer at info@petnest.co.nz. We will respond as soon as we can and within the timeframes set by the Act.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
Deleting your data
You can ask us to delete your PetNest account and the personal information linked to it at any time — including anything we received when you signed in with Google or Facebook.
Have an account? The quickest way is My account → Account details → Delete my account. We email you a link to confirm it’s you; once you click it, your account is deleted straight away.
No account, or prefer to ask us?
- Email info@petnest.co.nz with the subject “Delete my data”, from the email address on your account.
- We confirm the request and delete your account, saved pets and sign-in details within 30 days.
- We keep only what the law requires us to keep, such as order and tax records, and delete it when that period ends.
Signed in with Facebook? You can also remove PetNest from your Facebook account under Settings & privacy → Settings → Apps and websites. Saved pets can be deleted any time from My account → My pets.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always the one published on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
