SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap
The cat door that opens for your cat and nobody else’s. SureFlap reads the identification microchip your cat already has — no collar — remembers up to 32 cats and runs about a year on four AA batteries. We stock the Microchip Cat Flap (NZ$249), the larger app-connected Pet Door Connect for big cats and small dogs, and the fitting parts for both in Auckland, and ship nationwide — free over NZ$250.

SureFlap range
Seven lines, all white, shipped from Auckland stock: the Microchip Cat Flap (on its own or as a glass kit with the adaptor) and the two parts that take it into glass or through a wall, then the larger Pet Door Connect and its own adaptor and tunnel extender. Batteries are not included.
The flap
Fits timber, uPVC and metal doors up to about 70 mm straight out of the box (165 × 171 mm cut-out, DIY). Reads 9, 10 and 15-digit chips and the Sure Petcare RFID collar tag. Manual 4-way lock on top of the chip check. Print the size tester first if your cat is on the large side. Going into glass? The Glass Fitting Kit is the flap and the mounting adaptor in one order.

SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap — Glass Fitting Kit White
Cat Flap fitting parts · for SUR001
Mounting adaptor for glass — your glazier cuts a 212 mm round hole (or supplies a double-glazed pane with it) and the flap mounts through the adaptor; it also covers an old round hole from 212 to 260 mm. Tunnel extender adds 50 mm each for walls and thick doors — thickness minus 70, divided by 50, rounded up.

The Pet Door Connect · large cats & small dogs
The bigger SureFlap: a 178 × 170 mm flap that lets in only your registered, microchipped pets — any pet can go out. Four C batteries, up to 6 months. With the SureFlap Hub (sold separately) the Sure Petcare app adds remote locking, curfew times and come-and-go alerts. Doors as supplied (207 × 234 mm cut-out).

Pet Door fitting parts · for the Pet Door Connect, not for SUR001
For the Pet Door Connect (and the older Microchip Pet Door SUR101): the glass/wall adaptor (294–320 mm round hole, 300 mm ideal) and the tunnel extender for walls and thick doors (207 × 234 mm cut-out). They do not fit the Cat Flap above.
What to order for your door
The flap is the same in every case; the door it goes into decides which parts go with it.
Timber, uPVC or metal door
To about 70 mm · DIY
- SUR001 Microchip Cat Flap only.
- Jigsaw, drill, screwdriver; template in the box.
Half an hour, no other parts.
Thick door or wall
Over 70 mm · DIY
- SUR001 + TUN001WT2 tunnel extenders.
- Thickness minus 70, divided by 50, rounded up: a 90 mm framed wall needs 1, a 220 mm block wall needs 3.
The extenders also line the hole.
Single glazing, window or slider
Glazier cuts a 212 mm hole
- SUR001-GK Glass Fitting Kit (flap + adaptor in one), or SUR001 + GMA001WT2 separately.
- Nothing is screwed into the glass; the adaptor clamps either side of the pane.
Give the glazier the number 212 mm.
Double glazing
Glazier supplies a new pane with the hole
- SUR001-GK Glass Fitting Kit + 1 × TUN001WT2.
- The existing sealed unit cannot be cut; a replacement arrives with the 212 mm hole made.
Allow a week or two for the unit.
Replacing an old cat door that left a round hole of 212–260 mm? The Glass Fitting Kit covers it. Step-by-step: how to fit a SureFlap in glass or a wall.
SureFlap vs Catwalk® Multi-Magnetic
We make one selective-entry door and stock the other, so this is the honest comparison. Both keep the neighbour’s cat out; they do it differently.
SureFlap Microchip
Reads the chip · batteries
- Nothing on the cat — it reads the implanted chip (or an RFID collar tag).
- 32 cats registered; each can be added or removed.
- Four AA batteries, up to 12 months; low-battery light.
- Opening 142 × 120 mm — cats to about 6 kg.
- Doors and walls as supplied; glass with the adaptor.
Choose SureFlap if your cat is chipped and you do not want a collar.
Catwalk® Multi-Magnetic
Collar magnet · no batteries
- A small magnet on the collar releases the latch; nothing electronic.
- Unlimited cats — one magnet each.
- No batteries, ever.
- Opening 155 × 157 mm; glass 3–26 mm or wood 11–52 mm.
- Designed in Auckland, 3-year warranty, lower price (NZ$130).
Choose Multi-Magnetic if your cat wears a collar anyway or you want zero batteries. See the Multi-Magnetic →

SureFlap questions
Does SureFlap need a special collar?
No. It reads the identification microchip your cat already has; a cat without a chip can use a Sure Petcare RFID collar tag instead. Full details on the SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap page.
Can the SureFlap go in glass?
Yes. A glazier cuts a 212 mm round hole and the flap mounts through the mounting adaptor, which also covers an older round hole up to 260 mm. For a wall or thick door, add tunnel extenders at 50 mm each.
How long do SureFlap batteries last?
Up to 12 months on four AA batteries, with a low-battery light on the inside frame. Your registered cats and lock setting are kept when you change them. More in our SureFlap buyer’s guide.
Is the SureFlap worth it?
If another cat is coming into your house, yes — it is the only door that recognises your cat without a collar. If you have no intruder, a plain Catwalk® costs less and has no batteries. Full buyer’s guide: SureFlap in NZ, is it worth it?
What do I need to fit a SureFlap through a wall?
The flap plus TUN001WT2 tunnel extenders: wall thickness minus 70 mm, divided by 50, rounded up. A 220 mm wall takes three. Steps in fitting a SureFlap in glass or a wall.
Will my cat fit through a SureFlap?
The opening is 142 × 120 mm, right for cats to about 6 kg. Print the size tester at 100%, cut it out and watch your cat go through. Bigger cats: the Catwalk® Maxi.
Does my cat need a special collar?
No. The flap reads the identification microchip already implanted in your cat. If a cat is not chipped, a Sure Petcare RFID collar tag (sold separately) works the same way.
Which microchips does it read?
All the common identification chips used in New Zealand — 9, 10 and 15-digit formats — plus the Sure Petcare RFID collar tag. If you are unsure what your cat has, your vet can scan it in a few seconds.
Can it go into a glass door or window?
Yes. A glazier cuts a 212 mm round hole in the pane (or supplies a new double-glazed pane with the hole made) and the flap mounts through the GMA001WT2 mounting adaptor. The adaptor also covers an existing round hole up to 260 mm.
How long do the batteries last?
Up to 12 months on four AA batteries. A low-battery light on the inside frame tells you when to change them; the lock settings are kept.
Which SureFlap doors do you sell?
Two: the Microchip Cat Flap (SUR001) for cats up to about 6 kg, and the larger Microchip Pet Door Connect for large cats and small dogs, with the mounting adaptor and tunnel extender for each. We do not stock the DualScan. For a bigger cat or a small dog without selective entry, see the Catwalk® Maxi.
Do I need the SureFlap Hub?
Only for the Pet Door Connect’s app features — remote locking, curfew times and come-and-go notifications in the Sure Petcare app. The door reads your pets’ microchips and lets them in without it. The Hub is sold separately; the Microchip Cat Flap does not use one.
