Warranty & Support
Catwalk® and Dogwalk® doors are designed in Auckland by Pet-Tek International, and we stand behind them — 3 years on the door itself, 1 year on its moving parts. Buy from PetNest and your warranty is registered automatically. We support doors going back to 1999.

Pet-Tek doors only. The warranty on this page applies only to Pet-Tek International’s Catwalk® cat doors and Dogwalk® dog doors. Other products sold on PetNest carry their own warranty or guarantee, shown on each product’s page.
Our door warranty
Every Catwalk® cat door and Dogwalk® dog door is covered against faults in materials and workmanship from the date of purchase, on two terms:
- 3 years on the door itself — the frame, housing, tunnel and fixed components.
- 1 year on moving parts — the flap, the 4-way locking dial and its mechanism, hinge and pivot components, and magnets.
These doors are designed in Auckland by Pet-Tek International — the same range we’ve supported since 1999. If a door develops a manufacturing fault within the relevant period, we’ll repair it, replace the faulty part, or replace the door, at no charge.
Registered automatically when you buy from PetNest
Every Catwalk® and Dogwalk® door you buy on petnest.co.nz is registered for warranty automatically — there is nothing to fill in. Your order number is your proof of purchase, and the warranty runs from the date you paid.
- When your order is on its way, we email you a warranty confirmation listing each door and the date its door and moving-parts cover ends.
- With a PetNest account, your registered doors and their cover dates are always under My account → My pets.
- Bought your door somewhere else? It’s still covered from your date of purchase — just keep your receipt.
What it doesn’t cover
- Normal wear on moving parts. Flaps in particular are a consumable item that wears with daily use and weather — that’s expected, not a fault. Genuine replacement flaps are stocked for every model.
- Damage from misuse, accident, pet chewing or scratching, or extreme weather beyond normal exposure.
- Faults caused by incorrect installation, or by modifying the product.
- Normal cosmetic wear such as minor scuffs or fading over time.
Other products we sell
Everything else on PetNest — including SureFlap microchip doors and other brands we stock, and any new ranges we add — carries its own warranty or guarantee rather than the one on this page. The terms for each are shown on its product page, and we’ll help you make a claim with the manufacturer where needed. Your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act apply to everything you buy from us.
This is on top of your consumer rights
This warranty is in addition to — and does not limit — your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. Those rights can apply even beyond the warranty period, depending on what’s reasonable for the product. See our Returns & Refunds page.
Genuine parts for every door
We keep genuine spare parts for the Catwalk® and Dogwalk® range — replacement flaps, locking dials, security clips and collar magnets — that fit doors going back to 1999. Browse spare parts, or email us a photo of your door and we’ll identify the right part.
Before you make a claim
Please check your claim against these guidelines first. A claim can only be considered when all of the following apply:
- Proof of purchase — your PetNest order number, or a receipt from the store you bought from showing the purchase date.
- Within the cover period — 3 years from purchase for the door itself (frame, housing, tunnel and fixed parts); 1 year for moving parts (flap, 4-way locking dial and its mechanism, hinge and pivot parts, magnets).
- A manufacturing fault — for example a part that has cracked or broken without any knock or impact, a locking dial that will no longer click into its positions, magnets that no longer hold the flap closed, or a hinge or pivot that has failed.
- Fitted and used as intended — installed following the instructions, and not modified, cut down or repaired with non-genuine parts.
These are not warranty faults:
- A flap that is scratched, scuffed, cloudy or faded from daily use and sun — that’s normal wear, and genuine replacement flaps are stocked.
- Damage from chewing, scratching, a knock or accident, storms or extreme weather.
- Problems caused by incorrect installation — for example over-tightened screws or a cut-out made to the wrong size.
- Lost or missing parts.
If your claim meets the guidelines, email us with all of the following — claims without these details can’t be assessed:
- Your PetNest order number, or a photo of your receipt.
- The door model — the code is moulded into most frames (for example G-DD or W-CD).
- Two clear photos: the whole door as fitted, and a close-up of the fault.
- What happened, and when you first noticed it.
- Your delivery address.
We review every claim and may ask for more photos, or for the faulty part to be returned, before approving it. If you believe a product is faulty outside these guidelines, please still contact us — your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act are not affected.
How to make a warranty claim
- Check your claim against the guidelines above. If it meets them, email info@petnest.co.nz with everything listed. PetNest orders are already registered, so we have your purchase details on file.
- We’ll confirm the claim and tell you the next step — usually sending a replacement part or arranging a return.
- We put it right — repair, replacement part, or replacement door.

Warranty questions
What warranty do Catwalk® and Dogwalk® pet doors come with?
Every Catwalk® cat door and Dogwalk® dog door is covered against faults in materials and workmanship for 3 years on the door itself — the frame, housing, tunnel and fixed components — and 1 year on its moving parts, which are the flap, the 4-way locking dial and its mechanism, hinge and pivot components, and magnets. The warranty runs from the date of purchase, so keep your receipt.
Is the flap covered by the warranty?
The flap is covered for 1 year against manufacturing defects, as a moving part. It isn’t covered for normal wear — flaps are a consumable item that wears with daily use, sun and weather, and that’s expected rather than a fault. Genuine replacement flaps are stocked for every model.
Do you still supply parts for older Catwalk and Dogwalk doors?
Yes. We’ve supported this range since 1999, so we hold genuine spare parts — replacement flaps, 4-way locking dials, security clips and collar magnets — for doors going back to the beginning. Most frames have the model code moulded into them; if you can’t find it, email us a photo of your door and we’ll identify the part you need.
Do I need to register my warranty?
Not if you bought from PetNest — every Catwalk® and Dogwalk® door bought on petnest.co.nz is registered automatically, and we email you a confirmation with your cover dates when your order is on its way. If you bought your door elsewhere, it’s still covered from the date of purchase; just keep your receipt.
How do I make a warranty claim?
Email info@petnest.co.nz with your PetNest order number or proof of purchase, the door model, and a description or photo of the fault. We’ll confirm the claim and tell you the next step — usually sending a replacement part or arranging a return. We then repair it, replace the faulty part, or replace the door at no charge. This warranty is in addition to your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act, which can apply even beyond the warranty period.
