G-DDSLC – Dogwalk® Glass-Fitting Dog Door
Medium, Slim Line
The medium dog door for sliding glass doors. A low 16 mm frame each side clears the track on a ranchslider, and it clamps through single glazing from 4 to 20 mm. It is a fitted door, not a clip-in insert panel: no lost width on the slider, no draught gap, and it locks. Suits dogs up to 500 mm at the shoulder.

A dog door for the ranchslider
A sliding glass door is where most Kiwi dogs want to go out, and it is the awkward one to fit: the panel moves, the frame is thin, and a bulky door fouls the track. The Medium Slim Line keeps the frame to 16 mm on each face, so it clears the track and the fixed pane as the slider passes. It suits single glazing from 4 to 20 mm.
Fitted door, not an insert panel
The clip-in “sliding door insert” sold at hardware stores sits in the track beside the slider and steals that width permanently. This door goes through the glass itself: your glazier cuts a 385 mm round hole, the two frame halves clamp through it, and the slider works exactly as before. There is a proper brush seal and a 4-way lock.
What “Medium” means
A measurement, not a breed. The usable opening is 270 × 300 mm and suits dogs up to 450–500 mm at the shoulder, measured floor to the top of the shoulder blade.
Double glazing? Choose the Dual Glaze
If the pane is a sealed double-glazed unit, or thicker than 20 mm, the Medium Dual Glaze has a deeper outer frame for glass up to 32 mm — same opening, flap and lock.
What arrives
- Dogwalk Medium Slim Line door — inner and outer frame
- Clear polycarbonate flap, fitted
- 4-way locking dial, factory fitted
- Locking clips for the fully-locked position
- Four fixing screws, cut to length on site
- Installation guide
To be installed by a professional glazier.
Care
Wipe the flap and frame with a damp cloth and mild detergent. No solvents, no abrasive pads — they haze polycarbonate. The brush seal can be replaced if it wears; ask us for the part.
Warranty
3 years on the door against manufacturing and parts defects; 1 year on movable parts — the replacement flap (G-DDRF, $30) and the 4-way locking dial (G-LDDDC, $16); the optional security clip (SC-DDC, $13) adds a second lock. Excludes accidental damage, misuse and normal wear. Keep your proof of purchase. This sits alongside, and does not limit, your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
What your glazier will do
- 1Measure belly height. Floor to your dog’s stomach while standing — that is where the bottom of the opening goes.

- 2Mark and scribe. Mark that height on the glass from the outside and scribe a 385 mm circle — this is the cut-out.

- 3Cut, or replace. Single glazing: the glazier cuts the hole. Double glazing or toughened: the glazier supplies a new pane with the hole already made.
- 4Fit the two frames. Outer frame in from outside, inner frame over it from inside — a slip joint that closes against the glass.

- 5Screws. Cut the fixing screws to length and tighten firmly. Do not over-tighten.

- 6Test the lock. The dial comes fitted — turn it through all four positions to check.

Four-way locking

Entry only · exit only · both ways · locked. The Medium also ships with locking clips that secure the fully-locked position.

One measurement
Stand your dog square and measure from the floor to the top of the shoulder blade. That number picks the door. The opening should be at least 25 mm wider than your dog’s widest point, and its top should sit above shoulder height.
Multi-pet home? Size for the biggest, fit for the smallest — the bottom of the opening at the smaller animal’s belly height.

Before you buy
Will it clear the track on my sliding door?
Yes — that is what the Slim Line is for. The frame projects 16 mm on each side of the glass, and the glazier positions the cut-out so the inner frame clears the fixed pane as the slider passes. Measure the gap between the moving panel and the fixed pane; anything over 16 mm is fine.
Is this better than a sliding door dog door insert?
For a permanent home, yes. An insert panel sits in the track and narrows the opening for people; this door goes through the glass, keeps the full slider width, seals with a brush strip and locks four ways. An insert is the answer for a rental where you cannot alter the glass.
What glass does the Slim Line fit?
Single glazing from 4 to 20 mm. For double-glazed or thicker panes use the Dual Glaze version of the same door, which takes 3–32 mm.
What size dog does it suit?
Dogs up to 450–500 mm at the shoulder. The usable opening is 270 mm wide by 300 mm high; your dog’s width and chest depth, each plus 25 mm, must fit inside it. Measure rather than go by breed.
Who installs it?
A glazier. Toughened sliding-door glass cannot be cut in place, so a new pane is supplied with the 385 mm hole already made and the door is clamped through it. Give the glazier the cut-out size, the glass thickness and the fitting sheet from the box.
