Sizing questions

All questions →
How do I measure my dog for a dog door?

Dog standing square, measure from the floor to the top of the shoulder blade. Up to about 300 mm: Catwalk® Maxi. Up to about 380 mm: Dogwalk® Intermediate in glass, or the Small in wood (to about 360 mm). To about 500 mm: Dogwalk® Medium. Between two sizes, go up.

How do I measure my cat for a cat door?

Measure the width at the shoulders and the depth from the top of the shoulders to the bottom of the chest, and add 25 mm to each. The Catwalk® Standard (165 × 180 mm) takes most cats to about 7 kg; bigger cats suit the Maxi (187 × 190 mm).

Does single or double glazing change the door?

Yes. The Catwalk® Standard is for single glazing 3–10 mm. Double glazing takes a Dual Glaze model. An existing double-glazed unit cannot be cut, so your glazier orders a new unit with the hole made in both sheets.

How high should the door be fitted?

For a cat, the bottom of the opening goes 100–150 mm off the floor. For a dog, fit it at belly height, not on the floor. With a cat and a dog, size for the bigger animal and fit at the smaller one’s belly height.

Do you have a door for dogs over 500 mm at the shoulder?

The Dogwalk® Medium (270 × 300 mm) is the biggest door we make. Dogs taller than about 500 mm at the shoulder, or wider than the 270 mm opening, are beyond our range — email us and we will tell you honestly.
