The locking dial is what turns a pet door into a controlled one. Four positions — open both ways, in only, out only, or fully locked — so you can bring the cat in before dinner and stop her going back out, or shut the door completely while you are away for the weekend. When the dial goes stiff, cracks, or the little arrow snaps off, the door still works but you have lost that control.
These are the genuine Pet-Tek dial sets. Each order is a pair — the inside dial and the outside dial — because the two halves work as one mechanism and replacing only one leaves the same slop in the slide. Glass-fitting sets come with the screws and screw caps you need. Wood-fitting cat and small dog sets clip straight in, no tools at all.
Getting the right one
Two things have to match: the door type and the colour. Read the model code moulded into your frame — G- for glass fitting, W- for wood fitting. Then pick the colour that matches the dial currently on your door, not the frame. Worth knowing: black glass doors take the grey dial, and so do brown timber doors. There is no black dial in the range.
The dial sets are moulded from the same UV-stabilised polycarbonate used in the flaps — the material aircraft windows are made from — so they hold their colour and do not go brittle in a Kiwi summer.

Is this one dial or two?
Two. Every set is a complete pair — the front dial and the rear dial — because they engage the same locking slide. Fitting a new dial against a worn one will not restore the positive click.
Which colour do I need for a black pet door?
Grey. Pet-Tek does not make a black locking dial; the black glass doors (G-IDDB, G-DDB) are fitted with the grey dial set G-LDDDG from the factory. Brown timber doors also take grey.
What are the four locking positions?
Full open (your pet comes and goes freely), in only (they can come home but not leave), out only (they can go out but not return), and fully locked (the flap will not move in either direction).
Do I need tools to fit it?
For glass-fitting doors, a screwdriver — the set includes the screws and the caps that cover them. For wood-fitting cat doors and small dog doors, no tools: the dials clip into place.
The dial turns but the flap still opens both ways. Is a new dial the fix?
Usually. That symptom means the dial is spinning without driving the locking slide, which is a worn dial boss — exactly what the replacement set cures. If the slide itself is broken, send us your model code and we will check the part for you.
Can I buy just the white wood-fitting dials?
W-LDCD (wood cat door, white) and W-LDSDD (wood small dog door, white) exist but are not held in normal stock. Email us with your model code and we will source them.
