G-DDW – Dogwalk® Glass-Fitting Dog Door
Medium, Dual Glaze
The medium dog door for double glazing — and for single glazing too. It clamps through glass from 3 to 32 mm, so one model suits a thick sealed unit in a new build as well as an older single pane. Your glazier cuts one 385 mm round hole; your dog gets the garden. Suits dogs up to 500 mm at the shoulder.

The dog door for glass doors — double glazed or not
Most New Zealand homes open onto the deck through glass: a ranchslider, a bifold, a fixed pane beside the door. The Medium Dual Glaze is the full-size Dogwalk built for that glass. It fits panes from 3 to 32 mm, which covers an ordinary single pane and the thick double-glazed units in newer houses, so you do not need to know which you have before you order.
Installed by a glazier, not a handyman
A 385 mm round hole is cut in the pane and the two frame halves clamp through it, sealed on both faces. The inner frame stands 12 mm off the glass, the outer 23 mm — that deeper outside half is what lets the same door span a double-glazed unit. Nothing is screwed into the glass and nothing works loose.
What “Medium” means
A measurement, not a breed. The usable opening is 270 × 300 mm and suits dogs up to 450–500 mm at the shoulder. Stand your dog square and measure from the floor to the top of the shoulder blade. Over 500 mm, you need a bigger door than this.
Single glazing or a slider? Choose the Slim Line
If your glass is 4–20 mm and you want the lowest profile on a ranchslider, the Medium Slim Line is the same opening, flap, lock and warranty in a shallower frame.
What arrives
- Dogwalk Medium Dual Glaze door — inner and outer frame
- Clear polycarbonate flap, fitted
- 4-way locking dial, factory fitted
- Locking clips for the fully-locked position
- Four fixing screws, cut to length on site
- Installation guide
To be installed by a professional glazier.
Care
Wipe the flap and frame with a damp cloth and mild detergent. No solvents, no abrasive pads — they haze polycarbonate. The brush seal can be replaced if it wears; ask us for the part.
Warranty
3 years on the door against manufacturing and parts defects; 1 year on movable parts — the replacement flap (G-DDRF, $30) and the 4-way locking dial (G-LDDDW, $16); the optional security clip (SC-DDW, $13) adds a second lock. Excludes accidental damage, misuse and normal wear. Keep your proof of purchase. This sits alongside, and does not limit, your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
What your glazier will do
- 1Measure belly height. Floor to your dog’s stomach while standing — that is where the bottom of the opening goes.

- 2Mark and scribe. Mark that height on the glass from the outside and scribe a 385 mm circle — this is the cut-out.

- 3Cut, or replace. Single glazing: the glazier cuts the hole. Double glazing or toughened: the glazier supplies a new pane with the hole already made.
- 4Fit the two frames. Outer frame in from outside, inner frame over it from inside — a slip joint that closes against the glass.

- 5Screws. Cut the fixing screws to length and tighten firmly. Do not over-tighten.

- 6Test the lock. The dial comes fitted — turn it through all four positions to check.

Four-way locking

Entry only · exit only · both ways · locked. The Medium also ships with locking clips that secure the fully-locked position.

One measurement
Stand your dog square and measure from the floor to the top of the shoulder blade. That number picks the door. The opening should be at least 25 mm wider than your dog’s widest point, and its top should sit above shoulder height.
Multi-pet home? Size for the biggest, fit for the smallest — the bottom of the opening at the smaller animal’s belly height.

Before you buy
What is the difference between the Dual Glaze and the Slim Line?
Glass thickness. The Dual Glaze (G-DDC, G-DDW, G-DDB) fits 3–32 mm and is the one for double-glazed units; the Slim Line (G-DDSLC, G-DDSLW) fits 4–20 mm and sits lower on single glazing and sliders. Same 385 mm cut-out, same opening, same flap, same lock — only the outer frame depth changes.
Can a dog door go into existing double glazing?
Not into the pane you already have. Sealed and toughened units cannot be drilled after they are made, so your glazier orders a replacement unit with the 385 mm hole already cut and fits this door into it. It is routine work and the door itself is unchanged.
What size dog does the Medium suit?
Dogs up to 450–500 mm at the shoulder, measured from the floor to the top of the shoulder blade while standing. The usable opening is 270 mm wide by 300 mm high; your dog’s width plus 25 mm and chest depth plus 25 mm both need to fit inside it. We size by measurement, not breed.
How far does the frame stick out from the glass?
12 mm on the inside face and 23 mm on the outside. The outside half is deeper so the frame can span a double-glazed unit. Check the outside clearance if the door sits close to a security screen.
Who installs it and what do I give the glazier?
A glazier does the glass; this is not a DIY job. Give them three things: the cut-out size (385 mm round), your glass type and thickness, and the fitting sheet from the box. Most fits take under an hour once the glass is ready.
