A wooden dog door you fit yourself
No glazier, no trades: the Medium wood-fitting Dogwalk goes into a back door, a laundry door or a wall panel with the tools in the garage. It suits timber, PVC and metal panels from 5 to 36 mm. Trace the template, cut the hole, push the two frames together from each side and screw them up.
The same opening as the glass Medium
270 mm wide by 307 mm high, for dogs up to 450–500 mm at the shoulder. Measure from the floor to the top of the shoulder blade while your dog stands; that number tells you whether this is the door.
Locking, and the clip-on cover
The 4-way dials give in-only, out-only, both ways or locked. It also comes with a clip-on cover that fits over the opening — handy in bad weather, or when your dog needs to stay inside.
Download the installation guide (PDF) — the fitting sheet that comes in the box.
Smaller dog?
For dogs up to about 360 mm at the shoulder see the Small wood-fitting Dogwalk, or the tunnel version for thick doors and walls.

DIY fit — drill, jigsaw and screwdriver. No trades needed.
Care
Wipe the flap and frame with a damp cloth and mild detergent. No solvents, no abrasive pads — they haze polycarbonate. The brush seal can be replaced if it wears; ask us for the part.
Warranty
3 years on the door against manufacturing and parts defects; 1 year on movable parts — the replacement flap (W-DDRF, $30) and the 4-way locking dial (G-LDDDG, $13). Excludes accidental damage, misuse and normal wear. Keep your proof of purchase. This sits alongside, and does not limit, your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
How to fit it
- 1Measure belly height. Floor to your dog’s stomach while standing — the bottom of the opening sits there.

- 2Mark the cut-out. Tape the template from the box to the door at that height and draw round it.
- 3Cut the hole. Drill a start hole in each corner and cut along the line with a jigsaw. Suits panels 5–36 mm.
- 4Fit the outer frame. From outside, push the outer frame into the hole.
- 5Fit the inner frame. From inside, push the inner frame on and screw the two halves together evenly.
- 6Test the lock. The dial comes fitted — turn it through all four positions and check the flap swings freely.
Four-way locking

Entry only · exit only · both ways · locked. A clip-on cover is included for closing the opening off in bad weather.

One measurement
Stand your dog square and measure from the floor to the top of the shoulder blade. That number picks the door. The opening should be at least 25 mm wider than your dog’s widest point, and its top should sit above shoulder height.
Multi-pet home? Size for the biggest, fit for the smallest — the bottom of the opening at the smaller animal’s belly height.

Before you buy
What can it be fitted into?
Timber, PVC or metal panels from 5 to 36 mm thick — a back door, garage side door, laundry door or wall panel in that range. For thicker doors or through a wall, look at a tunnel model.
Is it really DIY?
Yes. You need a drill, a jigsaw, a screwdriver and a tape measure. Mark the cut-out with the template at your dog’s belly height, cut it, fit the outer frame from outside and the inner frame from inside, and screw them together. Most people are done in under an hour.
Which dogs fit the Medium?
Dogs up to 450–500 mm at the shoulder. The usable opening is 270 × 307 mm; your dog’s width and chest depth, each plus 25 mm, should fit inside it.
What is the clip-on cover for?
A panel that clips over the opening to close it off — useful in bad weather or when your dog needs to stay inside. For locking, use the 4-way dial.
Brown or white?
Both. White suits painted doors and uPVC; brown (W-DDB) suits stained timber. Same door, same price.
